Thousands of teeth in front of whale sharks were discovered by scientists
Japanese biologists have found that the eyeballs of fish are reliably protected by a huge number of dermal dental structures. The study has published PLoS ONE.
The eyes of these giant marine creatures have no eyelids and are located in a vulnerable spot on the sides of the head. Specialists have found that each of the animal's visual organs is dotted with three thousand tiny teeth, whose strong enamel prevents the appearance of a variety of damages.
It is noted that the small hard organs also
cover other parts of the body of a large harmless creature. This helps reduce
friction in the water, helping to develop high speed.
